If the device to be backed up is a machine with a real-time capable PLC (Beckhoff TwinCat), it is recommended to perform the backup while the machine is at a standstill (e.g., with activated emergency stop) to avoid possible real-time limitations and associated unwanted machine states and movements.
Beckhoff Service Stick
To perform a comprehensive data backup, we recommend using the Beckhoff Service Stick. This service stick provides a simple and reliable way to back up your data. Follow Beckhoff's instructions to use the service stick and fully back up your data. The service stick can be purchased through our Jentschmann Support.
USB Hard Drive/Stick (minimal)
As an alternative to using the Beckhoff Service Stick, it is possible to perform a minimal data backup using a USB hard drive or USB stick. To do this, please back up the folders C://Data//Install and C://TwinCat to the corresponding external storage solution. Make sure that all relevant data in these folders is included to ensure complete protection. This backup only secures application data! In case of restoration, Jentschmann AG support may be needed. This may incur costs.
Customer-Specific Data Backup
It is important to emphasize that customer-specific backup tasks are the responsibility of the customer. Each customer has individual requirements and specific data that needs to be backed up. Therefore, it is the customer's responsibility to take appropriate measures to ensure data backup according to their specific needs.
