Head Calibration

In this section, you will learn how to calibrate the cutting heads of the AcrylCut machine. Calibration is an important step to ensure the machine's accuracy and achieve optimal cutting results.

To enter calibration mode, click the Calibration button in the user interface.

Prerequisites

Machine calibration can be performed in various operating states. You can perform the calibration both with and without loaded fabric. It is important that the machine is not in active motion and has already been initialized. Once these conditions are met, the button Start Calibration will be activated and visible in the user interface.

Starting the Calibration Process

To begin calibration, press the Start Calibration button. The machine will then automatically switch to calibration mode and activate the corresponding controls in the upper area of the user interface.

Position and Rotation Adjustment

Head Movement along the Longitudinal Axis

The longitudinal axis calibration allows you to precisely position the cutting head along the horizontal axis. You can adjust the head position in two ways:

For incremental movement, various step sizes are available. By clicking on the currently displayed step size, you can cycle through them - from 1 mm through 5 mm and 10 mm to 100 mm, before the cycle starts again at 1 mm. Use the arrow keys to move the head left or right by the selected distance.

Alternatively, you can perform direct positioning. Enter the desired target position where the head should move to. After reaching the position, measure the actual position of the head using a metal ruler. Enter this measured value in the "Measured Position" field and confirm it with the green button. The displayed fabric position will then automatically update to the new value.

Rotation Adjustment

The rotation adjustment works on a similar principle to the longitudinal axis adjustment. Here too, you have the choice between incremental rotation and direct angle setting. You can cycle through the step sizes by clicking on the current value, starting at 0.1° through 0.5°, 5°, 10° to 90°.

For direct adjustment, enter the desired angle and let the head move to this position. After reaching the position, measure the actual rotation angle. A special measuring tool is supplied with the machine to simplify angle measurement. However, using this tool is optional - the calibration can also be performed with other suitable measuring devices. Enter the measured value and confirm it to complete the calibration.

TIP

During calibration, you can open the protective window at any time to gain direct access to the toolheads. Note that when the window is open, only the rotation axis can be operated for safety reasons - the longitudinal axis is deactivated in this state.

Completing Calibration

When you are satisfied with the calibration, complete the process by clicking "Complete Calibration". The new calibration values will then be saved.

If you want to cancel the calibration, simply switch to one of the cutting modes and press the Stop button. The machine will then automatically perform its standard calibration and return to normal operating state.

INFO

Calibration should be checked approximately every three months, especially if the ambient temperature has changed significantly. Since the machine is equipped with high-quality metal guides and gearing, the calibration typically remains stable over long periods. After calibrating, it is recommended to verify the settings through a test cut.
